Serving San Jose & Santa Clara County.

Based in Saratoga, Get Em Served focuses on local assignments throughout Santa Clara County. Send the exact address so we can confirm coverage, access requirements and special charges before dispatch.

Wrong address or difficult-to-locate recipient?

Tell us what you know before ordering more attempts. Skip tracing, another address or extended waiting may be appropriate and is priced separately. Research and additional attempts do not guarantee successful service.

The right method matters.

Personal service, substituted service and other methods have different requirements. What is permitted depends on the document, case and any court order. Provide the applicable instructions rather than assuming that mailing or leaving papers completes service.

The Proof of Service records how, when and where papers were served and who received them. Preparing the proof and filing it with the court are separate steps.

General service information, not legal advice. A lawyer or court self-help center can explain case-specific forms, methods and deadlines.

Process serving FAQs.

How much does a process server cost in San Jose?

Civil service is $150 Routine, $200 Priority, $250 Urgent or $300 On-Demand. Family law service is $250, $300, $350 or $400 at the corresponding level. Standard rates cover one party at one address with up to three attempts. Special handling may cost more.

How quickly can you attempt service?

Priority targets a first attempt generally within 48 hours, Urgent within 24 hours and On-Demand within five business hours. Routine assignments generally have a 10–14 day service window. Confirm availability and your deadline before ordering.

Does rush service guarantee completed service?

No. First-attempt targets and estimated service windows are scheduling guidelines, not guarantees that the recipient will be served. Recipient availability, access, address accuracy and assignment requirements affect the outcome.

What is included in the standard rate?

One party, one address, up to three service attempts, status information and an emailed signed Proof of Service following successful service. Court filing and separately quoted services are not included unless expressly confirmed in your order.

What happens after three unsuccessful attempts?

We communicate the results and available next steps. An additional attempt cycle may be requested at 50% of the original service rate under the published terms. A new address, skip tracing or special handling may require a separate charge.

Do you serve family law documents?

Yes. We accept prepared divorce, custody, support and other family law service requests, subject to assignment review. Provide the complete packet, recipient information, hearing date and service deadline. Family law pricing starts at $250.

Can you serve someone at work or at a gated property?

Provide the full address, unit number, access instructions, known schedule and relevant safety concerns. Access restrictions and special facilities may affect feasibility, scheduling and price. Confirm the scope before dispatch.

What if I do not have a current address?

Ask about skip tracing before ordering attempts at an uncertain address. Published skip-tracing pricing is $100 per person. Research may identify a likely current address, but results and successful service are not guaranteed.

Do you file the Proof of Service with the court?

We email the signed Proof of Service after successful service. Court filing is separate unless specifically included in your accepted order. Tell us if you need filing and provide the court, case number and deadline.

Can papers simply be left with another adult?

The permitted method depends on the case, document and circumstances. Substituted service has specific requirements and is not available for every assignment. Provide any court order or attorney instructions; do not assume that leaving papers with another person completes service.

When do I pay and when does scheduling begin?

Submit your assignment for review. We confirm scope, availability and charges. Required payment is completed before acceptance and dispatch unless approved billing terms apply. Submitting a request alone does not confirm service or reserve a deadline.

Do you accept requests outside business hours?

You can submit an online request at any time. Office hours are Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM. On-Demand requests received after hours may begin the next business day. Call to discuss an urgent deadline and confirm availability.

Can you help if I am representing myself?

Yes. We accept prepared assignments from self-represented customers as well as attorneys, legal staff and businesses. We do not choose your forms or give legal advice. A lawyer or court self-help center can explain case-specific requirements.

Can you serve outside Santa Clara County?

Our published standard service area is San Jose and Santa Clara County. Contact us with the exact destination before placing an out-of-area request so availability and pricing can be confirmed.
